Hello! I’m Dr. Danielle, a naturopathic doctor here in Dayton, Ohio, but practicing virtually as well. I’m here to cut through the nonsense and help you live life abundantly—free from the constraints of body size, symptoms, and life’s obstacles.
The latest social media trend that’s driving me up the wall: adrenal cocktails.
Let’s dive into why these quick fixes are a waste of your time and what you should be doing instead.
The Adrenal Cocktail Hype
Social media is buzzing with influencers pushing adrenal cocktails as the ultimate solution for stress. These people often lack any real credentials, yet they have huge followings, which makes their advice seem credible. The typical adrenal cocktail includes:
- Natural fruit juice
- Sodium or salt
- Potassium
- Magnesium
- Some form of fat (like coconut milk or cream)
The theory is that this drink replenishes the minerals that stress depletes from your body. Yes, stress depletes minerals like magnesium, sodium, and potassium, but it’s not limited to just these three. It can also deplete calcium, phosphorus, chromium, copper, iron, and more.
Why Adrenal Cocktails Are a Waste
Here’s the harsh reality: drinking an adrenal cocktail is not the magic fix it’s made out to be. Here’s what actually happens:
- Blood Sugar Spike: The juice increases your blood sugar, giving you a temporary energy boost.
- Mineral Loss: Your stressed body can’t properly absorb the minerals, so you end up peeing them out.
This spike in blood sugar causes more stress on your body, leading to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance isn’t just for those who are overweight—anyone can have it. And those quick energy boosts? They’re followed by crashes that leave you even more exhausted.

The Trap of Quick Fixes
These hacks make you feel good temporarily but don’t solve the root problem of why you’re stressed, your hormones are out of whack, your sleep is disturbed, you’re having period problems, irritable, etc. They distract you from doing the real work needed to improve your health.
Instead of relying on tips and tricks or latest social media health trends, I want to provide you support that actually works.
What You Should Be Doing Instead of an Adrenal Cocktail
To genuinely manage stress and improve your health, focus on:
- Eating balanced meals with enough protein
- Drinking plenty of pure water
- Getting quality sleep
- Managing stress with healthy habits, not quick fixes
If you’re stressed out because of a busy schedule, that’s something you need to address. Prioritize your health and set boundaries.
