For too many women, health has become a battlefield.
A place of punishment.
A cycle of starting over.
A quiet belief that “I deserve this because I failed.”
And friend, I need you to hear this clearly:
God does not use your health as punishment.
In this teaching, I want to gently—but truthfully—invite you into a new way of seeing your body, your symptoms, and your healing journey. One rooted not in shame or striving, but in surrender.
The Lie So Many Women Believe About Their Health
I hear it every week in my clinic:
- “I caused this mess.”
- “I deserve this extra weight.”
- “God must be disappointed in me.”
- “I made my bed, now I have to lie in it.”
At the core of all of these thoughts is the same lie:
My health struggle is my punishment.
But Scripture tells us something very different.
God does not shame His children into obedience.
His kindness leads us to repentance.
And your symptoms? They are not shame weapons.
They are invitations.
Symptoms Are Invitations, Not Condemnations
An invitation asks you to slow down.
To pay attention.
To respond with intention.
Your body is not the enemy.
Your body is a messenger.
And when you go to war with the messenger, you become distracted from the real enemy.
Your body is a vessel God designed to communicate—not betray—you.
How Shame Sabotages Healing (Spiritually and Physically)
Shame is not harmless motivation.
It is a spiritual chokehold.
It silences the Holy Spirit.
It freezes the nervous system.
It dysregulates blood sugar, hormones, metabolism, and sleep.
Shame tells you:
- “You’ll fail again anyway.”
- “You’re too far gone.”
- “Just try harder next time.”
And striving always leads to burnout.
You cannot hate your body into healing.
You cannot bully your metabolism into obedience.
You cannot shame yourself into consistency.
Surrender Is Not Giving Up — It’s Obedience With Action
Let’s be clear about what surrender is not:
- It’s not quitting.
- It’s not passivity.
- It’s not “let go and do nothing.”
Surrender is a posture of obedience with action.
It sounds like:
- “I don’t have to control everything.”
- “I can take the next right step.”
- “I don’t need perfection to be obedient.”
- “I can be honest about what’s not working.”
Surrender is powerful.
And it’s the doorway to freedom.
Where Theology Meets Physiology
God designed your body for:
- Rhythm
- Rest
- Nourishment
- Movement
- Consistency
- Boundaries
Our God is a God of order—and the body thrives in order.
When life is chaotic, healing becomes impossible.
You cannot heal a chaotic life with another chaotic plan.
Spiritual chaos becomes physiological chaos.
Identity Always Comes Before Habits
If your identity is:
- “I’m inconsistent”
- “I always fall off the wagon”
- “I’m exhausted”
- “I’m the strong one who carries everything alone”
That identity will sabotage every health goal you set.
Identity shapes behavior.
Behavior shapes habits.
Habits shape results.
This is why healing is discipleship work.
What Stewardship Actually Means
Stewardship is not dieting.
It’s not punishment.
It’s not obsession.
Stewardship is honoring the Giver by caring for the gift.
It looks like:
- Nourishment over numbing
- Rest over rushing
- Truth over shame
- Support over isolation
- Order over chaos
Your body was never meant to be punished into obedience.
It was meant to be stewarded.
That is health as worship.
And that is how 2026 changes.
