Welcome to a reflective look back at 2024—a year filled with growth, challenges, and transformation. As I sit with my coffee (a cold brew with just a touch of raw cream, even in winter!), I want to share the lessons I’ve learned month by month. These insights shaped not only my personal journey but also how I lead, serve, and guide others in health, wellness, and faith.
Grab your favorite drink—or maybe a slice of cheesecake—and let’s dive in.
January: Starting Strong and Facing Resistance
January marked my first full month running an in-person naturopathic clinic. After years of working virtually, this was a big adjustment. I felt the resistance of stepping into a new space, balancing my role as a mom to homeschooled kids, and finding my footing as a leader outside my home.
I learned that resistance shows up where there’s potential for growth. Whether launching the Wilderness of Wellness platform or setting new personal boundaries, I had to embrace discomfort. Most importantly, I realized: if I’m not willing to lead myself well, I can’t expect others to follow.
February: Surrendering Control
Balancing faith and business became a key theme in February. As people began booking in-person appointments, I felt vulnerable being seen in a new way. I had to let go of perfection and trust that obedience to God’s purpose was enough.
This taught me that when our efforts align with God’s purpose, they’re never wasted. I reevaluated how I show up for clients and members of the Wilderness of Wellness to reflect this truth.
March: The Importance of Community
March brought me to Noosa, Australia, where I connected with friends who showed me the power of community. I realized how much I leaned on isolation as a coping mechanism, and how unhealthy that was.
This experience reinforced my commitment to creating safe spaces—not just professionally, but personally. That’s why I launched Embrace: a program designed to bring women together who are tired of going it alone. Community is where we heal, grow, and stay accountable.
April: Growth Doesn’t Always Feel Good
April reminded me that growth often comes with discomfort. From pivoting program ideas to managing personal stress and refining team dynamics, I had to adapt.
Burnout isn’t failure—it’s a signal to recalibrate. Leaning into prayer, Scripture, and saying “no” more often helped me navigate this season.
May: Letting Go
As someone who loves control, May challenged me to let go of old habits, thought patterns, and even relationships that no longer served my calling. This pruning process was painful but necessary.
I restructured my mission and ensured my team aligned with the bigger picture. My goal isn’t just about physical health—it’s about soul care and helping women live set apart and free in Christ.
June: Vulnerability as Strength
Hosting my first Wilderness of Wellness retreat was a dream realized in June. Teaching, worshipping, and connecting with the women reaffirmed how vulnerability creates strength and growth.
This mid-year milestone reminded me that my greatest growth moments happen when I’m willing to be vulnerable—not just with myself, but with others.
July: The Power of Perseverance
Turning 40 in July was a moment of gratitude. Reflecting on my health journey compared to my dad’s struggles at the same age reaffirmed why I do this work. Health isn’t just about us—it’s about the generational impact we leave on our families and communities.
August: Discipline and Humility
August brought my board certification exam in Las Vegas. Months of disciplined studying paid off, reminding me that consistency beats perfection.
This lesson applies to all areas of life—whether health, relationships, or career. Trust the process and stay consistent.
September: Acting Now
Complacency creeps in when we’re comfortable. In September, I saw how delaying tough conversations or procrastinating on health goals only made things harder.
Waiting for the “perfect time” is a trap. That’s why I push my clients and members to act now—because your future self depends on it.
October: Audacious Leadership
October was about stepping into audacious leadership. Whether leading my team, my clients, or myself, I began to see the fruits of seeds planted earlier in the year.
I made shifts within my team, aligning with God’s purpose for my mission. This season reminded me that when we pour into others, God pours back into us.
November: Gratitude Changes Everything
In November, I reflected on the many communities in my life—my clinic, my Wilderness of Wellness members, my church, and even my global connections.
Gratitude shifted my perspective and gave me the strength to keep going, even when the path felt tough.
December: Growth Requires Intention
Looking back on 2024, I see a tapestry of lessons. Growth isn’t linear, and it doesn’t happen without intention. But the rewards? They’re worth it.
Wellness is about more than what you eat or how you exercise—it’s about who you’re becoming. If you’re ready to take radical responsibility for your health, I invite you to join me in Embrace.
